I had to replace the first one after five years when the plastic gears wore out.The blade on the second unit snapped in half. Looked like it was starting to rust after two months. Cuisinart was willing to replace if I paid the $10 shipping charge for the new unit and another $10 in shipping to return the faulty unit.
