I liked this unit for about a month Well, I liked this unit for about a month. The rice and oatmeal both came out wonderful! The steamer basket is bigger than most units I saw at the store. However, one time the unit leaked oatmeal out the top, into the hinge, and down onto the counter. I figured out that the rubber gasket/flange needed to be secured around the metal plate in the top, and I had great success using the unit for a few more weeks. Messy but does the job. Cooks rice and beans effectively with very little effort to set up. Strange measuring system that doesn’t match standard cups so you have to adjust when you lose their special cup. Reason for 3 stars is need to put paper towels over vent for cooking rice or you get starchy liquid all over countertop. I only cook 1 1/2 cups of rice (dry) at a time so it’s not a volume thing. I have had good experience with Hamilton Beach products in the past so this is disappointing. So just be ready for cleanup…
