Don’s hesitate to get cordless – it stays plenty hot and steamy off the base for a while and re-charges quickly!!! This is a 1600 watt, weighty and high quality iron. It has plenty of steam and heat for a long time off the base and it takes no time to re-charge the iron between pressings. If you quilt, you will LOVE this iron. It also has an OFF button on the iron so you can decide to shut it off if you know its gunna be a while before u use it again in order to save electricity. No “indicator” light!? and other feedback from an avid quilter and everyday iron user I bought this iron to replace my Maytag MLI7500, which went haywire on me after over 10 years use. I chose it because it was most like my old one and I didn’t really want to change. The Panasonic version is perfect in every way except for one: it is missing the key feature that makes a cordless iron functional.
