Classic, simple design is best This simple design is the best for a rice cooker. You’ll see that the lid is not attached to the appliance itself and the rice cooking insert and steamer aren’t, either. This is what you want. Everything that comes in contact with food can take a dunk in soapy water or sit in the dishwasher. Other models, fancier models, have the lid on a hinge and attach to the appliance itself.
