Fixed the problem! Our washing machine would fill, but not start agitating. We used to be able to “firmly” close the lid and make it work, but it got so that it wouldn’t even do that. If you slammed it 10 times, it might recognize one of those and let the cycle continue. The new switch is nice and sensitive, and works just fine. No more having to slam the lid down to make the washer start! : ) I do feel compelled to caution people about one of the poster’s comments stating that might not need this switch, but can fix the problem instead by bending the metal bar that makes contact with the switch to make it drive into the switch harder. If there’s nothing wrong with the metal bar, just replace the switch. Otherwise, you are just delaying the inevitable…
