I was glad to find this fix and upgrade for my Kitchenaid trash compactor. It’s a bit tricky to precisely drill the two perfectly aligned holes even with the supplied template. And since the two holes are so close together even a little offset can significantly change the angle of the long lever arm attached to the mounting plate. PRO: Redesign huge improvement. Easily installed if one is at all handy with a drill. Note, switch must be replaced as it changes from NC to NO (or other way round). However, it would of been very difficult to remove the unit from the uncabinet install based on my situation. As a shortcut, I was able to pull the old switch out carefully with a pair of pliers while fishing the wires out with it. Was able to connect and set the new switch with ease.
