Fixed it myself I have a Roper top load washing machine and this sucker is abour 13 years old. Never had a problem with it. After removing the old lid switch assembly (which didn’t appear broken at all) and installing this part, my washer was still not working properly when I closed the lid. When I would engage the switch myself, the washer did work. After doing some more inspection, I discovered that the screws that attached the washer lid strike (the metal piece under the lid that engages the lid switch when closed) to the the lid had loosened over time.
